Universal Engineering and Design was set up in May 1995, specialising in the design, uprating and refurbishment of gearboxes, transmission equipment and associated mechanical assemblies, mainly for the metals industries. Since that time we have completed numerous prestigious contracts for blue-chip companies Corus, Alcoa, Avesta and Caparo and have developed valuable working relationships with mill engineers and our core suppliers.

We offer a total project service from the concept of a design through to manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance, to overcome problems associated with ageing transmission equipment and to improve the performance and efficiency of existing plant.

All our team have many years experience in the heavy engineering industry, gained at respected companies such as Davy International, VAI and David Brown Gears.
