The project was undertaken to re-align the rotary crop shear of a steel rolling mill, which had become loose on its foundations. Wear had also taken place in the bearing bores and the main cover was distorted. The work involved the supply of an over-sized chock, which was finish machined to size after site inspection and investigation and the provision of new housing liners and shims to produce the correct alignment. The main cover was machined to a flat condition to achieve the correct clamping of the chocks.

The whole project was carried out during a Christmas shutdown period of five days, saving approximately one week over an alternative solution that would have required the crop shear to be removed from its foundations and repaired in a workshop.
